The 898 (305) came in two wiring types BIA and non-BIA color coding. Looking at the wire going from the starter solenoid to the starter is it Yellow (non-BIA) or Yellow/Red (yellow with red stripe and BIA)

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Yer picture appears to be of the alternator, rather than the starter,.......

They're on 2 different circuits,.....

have you owned the boat for a long time, or is it new to you?

why is there a wire-nut on the wire?

what is the battery voltage under load - have you had the battery tested?
are all the connections between the battery and the starter/block in good clean condition. by clean, I mean shiny and clean enough your wife would eat off them.

You dont give much info to go on, was it iwinterized, has it been running, is this the first start of the season, and drive service, etc?
Could be from a isolator system since removed and put back to the standard Orange wire but per Bondo that a alt pic not a starter

Guys I know its the ALT, I want to know if its BIA or non-BIA, this way I'll have a better idea of which wiring diagram to use
