1984 Mercruiser 898, Thermostat Housing ???

1984 Mercruiser 898 (5.0 Chevy)...<br /><br />The thermostat housing on this one has what's left of a thermostat.....and a brass ring or barrell outfit that seems to hold the thermostat in place. Does anyone know what I'm referring too. I did one on my 1984 260 (5.7 Chevy) Mercruiser last week. It's thermostat just droppped in to it's slot and the top part of the T-stat housing held it in place..<br /><br />Has this 898 been changed something? If not, does anyone have part numbers for the thermostat and barrell retainer . I guess 142 degrees is still correct?<br /><br />Thanks ...Stan M.

Hey thanks Bondo...<br /><br />That looks like the bugger...but mine didn't have any thing between the t-stat and the sleeve.<br /><br />The "I found it here" link didn't hook up. Can you tell me where it was...or maybe where I can get some part no's?<br /><br />Much obliged...Stan
