This is my first post and first I/O. I live in Toledo Ohio, outside of opening drains/4 do I have to worry about power steeing or oil cooler or anything else with water freezing. Do I need to blow out lines? Do anything with the lower unit water pump/lubrication. How much antifreeze would it take me to pour through the muffs to winterize like the dealers do? Help is needed?

kds

Re: 1984 Mercruiser winterization

I have always used the same kit that the local marinas use.39$ at West marine.Run motor to operating temp .the 5 gal container is filled with a 50/50 mix and has a switching valve on the front and a vent on top.The valve switches over from garden hose water to the 50/50 mix in the container. The oil should be changed before this is done.Let about half of the 50/50 mix run through the motor and start fogging until about 1 gal is left.try to stall motor by fogging and pouring marvel mystery oil in carb at same time.Make sure the motor stalls BEFORE you run out of 50/50.The motor is done!!Charlie
