I've got a 1984 Mercury 7.5hp short shaft tiller steer that I'm thinking of selling. It's in good running condition. It's painted a flat green to match my boat. Trying to get a general figure on the value of it to sell. I'm wanting a bigger motor. Thanks.

I bought an 85 9.8 electric start long shaft for $200 from missouri. I paid about the same on a 9.8 short shaft tiller with a broken anti-cav plate and bad water pump in the tampa area.

your value will be dependant on where you live, if the motor come with a fuel tank, etc.

check craigslist for local values.

Most engines of that size and vintage sell well in the $200 range. You see them hanging around not really moving when the asking price is in the $400 range.

I bought my 1969 Mercury 7.5 for $250. I recently bought a 1980 Johnson 4.5 long shaft for $200.

$300 might be OK to start off with . . .Since it is painted a different color than normally found, it may go for a bit less.
