1984 OMC service manual question

I just picked up a 1984 Johnson 140 for a project boat that should be finished in another month or so. I've been searching for a service manual and have been coming up empty. I do see that Ken Cook / Outboardbooks.com has one listed for that year but it covers every single outboard made, all the way from 2 HP up to 235 HP. Is that really the only factory service manual for that year? (That one-size-fits-all approach to service manuals is what I really really dislike about the Clymer and Seloc manuals).

Metric, I have the 1982 OMC factory manual and it covers 2HP through V6. I also have the 1986 Johnson factory manual and it covers 60HP through V6. I'll guess that your 1984 (2-235) would be correct. After having a Yamaha factory manual, I'll never ever again complain abut anything having to do with an OMC manual.

I guess they must have done that for just a few years. I recently sold a boat with an '81 Johnson 90, the manual for that just covered the V4's, and the manual for my '93 175 covers just the 150 and 175 for that year.

Why not see what the marineengine web site has. You can get the part number and pick several places to purchase.

Back in '82-'84 OMC had some problems printing some decent service manuals. If you laid them on a desk they were about 6" high.
