not new to forum, but have been out on sick leave.<br /><br /><br />not new to area just this topic.<br /><br />new project 1985 17ft thundercraft w/ 140 mercruiser<br />engine # 6871604<br />trans plate # 6866096<br />outdrive # 0B676232 <br />carb # mcm 120/140 1389-8490<br />-<br />i was told the stern drive is from a 1987 4cyl motor.<br /><br />big ??? will it worrk on this boat ?<br /><br />thanx

the outdr was missing when i got boat, but i found a complete outdr that ser # said is a 1987 model w/ 1.98 gears.<br /><br />thanx don s-- can anyone tell me any more info about the #s <br /><br />thanx

Not sure what your looking for, but if you go to the Mercruiser parts site, and enter the part numbers you can get the "REAL" parts or at least a part number for the correct cross reference number for the aftermarket parts, and a parts breakdown with pictures.<br /><br /> Mercruiser Parts Express

im just trying to verify what i actually have <br />MC, MR, PRE ALPHA, ALPHA 1.<br /> along with the year of the outdrive.<br /><br />ive been told that the motor & transom assembly fall in when they were changing models. so i havent really gotten a strait answer.<br /><br />thanx

The Change was in 1983/4.......<br /><br />1987 Is an Alpha 1...... So is 1985.......<br /><br />Besides That,... There's Almost Total Interchangeability in All those Drives/Years............<br /><br />What's the Issue, or Question ??????

bondo- you answered the question. thanx<br />the local mercruiser dealer told me if it fits it will work (used outdrive i bought)<br />-<br />so with that answer i know who not to take it to.<br /><br />DS- thanx to you also, your links that you post are great.<br /><br />im just waiting on factory manuals to arrive.
