1985 20hp Mariner

Help!<br />I have a 20hp Mariner long shaft that does not appear to have a thermostat. ??? <br />I cannot find a place for it anywhere. <br /><br />The motor needed a water pump so while I was at the dealer to buy the pump, they looked it up and said it does take a thermostat, so I bought it. <br /><br />I cannot find a place for it anywhere. A previous post suggested it was under a plate on top of the head, but there isn't any such plate. The ignition coils are mounted on top of the cylinders, but there doesn't seem to be the typical small thermostat cover I'm used to seeing on other motors. <br /><br />If anyone can help me out here I'd sincerely appreciate it.

Get a service manual, it will tell you whether your motor requires a T/stat and where it is located.<br />Service manuals can be acquired at the bottom left corner of this page
