Helping my buddy put a new impeller in his 1985 60 HP Johnson and the new impeller we bought is different, the one on the motor used a wedge style pin and the new impeller used a dowel style pin. We ordered the part as per the model number on the motor so I was surprised to see that it was different. Now I wonder if the lower unit is not original and may be either newer or older than the rest of the motor? I took the lower unit with me to the local marina (when I was returning the impeller) and the guy behind the counter and a tech from the shop both looked at it. The tech said that the design changed at some point and that the impellor they had originally sold me will work but I had to buy the pin to go with it which I did and went on my merry way.
When I got home I found out that the pin / impellor as a set still do not fit on the drive shaft so now I dont know what to do.
Idealy I would like to find an impeller that will use the original wedge style pin, any ideas?

I just disassembled a 1985 60 hp E60TLCOD yesterday and the impeller had a dowel style pin.

Re: 1985 60 hp cant find right impeller??

Just got back from the marina and they came up with the same part number as tashasdaddy provided which didnt fit. After searching the parts bins he was able to match the old impeller and key. They happened to be rebuilding a 1988 Johnson 50 (I think) and the pump kit they had set aside for the rebuild matched what I needed.
It didnt come in a package as it was a complete water pump kit that they robbed the impeller from so I dont even know what the part number is.
At least my problem is resolved.
Thanks for the help folks.
