1985 88 hp

I am looking at a 19 foot seaway boat with a 88 hp Johnson sbl on it are these engines any good?

The 88 Hp's are one of the best they made. Very reliable if they are/were taken care of...

I just got a 1988 88hp on a 20ft SeaArk. It starts a little hard when I first put in, but OK after that. It will push my boat about 40 mph with a 19 pitch. I have studied the manual, they seem to be very simple motors, mine has fixed orifices in the carburators so there is very few adjustments on that end.

Very sturdy, reliable engine if it's been well maintained. Almost bulletproof.
