1985 dt50 starts but won't accelerate

i have a 1985 dt50 suzuki outboard it starts fine and idles fine but it won't accelerate beyond about 1500 rpms. any ideas as to the problem? is there any test that i can perform? thanks

maybe a dirty high speed jet, clean your carbs real well and blow out with compressed air ......
