1985 evinrude 150

I have a 1985 evinrude 150. It’s hard to start and runs very ruff and sluggish on water, but will eventually open up and run but will load up and foul plugs if idled very long. Please help

Always post the compression test numbers.

All cylinders are at 110+

What other trouble shooting has already been done ???-----It really is in your favor to post information.---My crystal ball has a bad battery.

I have cleaned the carbs and replaced the floats. Replaced the hand primer pump. It will start and run fine on muffs. Still hard to start but will run fine.

You are raising the throttle and pushing in the key while cranking it over ?-------Load tested the battery ?----Inspected your starter motor insides ?

Battery is good and have replaced the starter. It was staying ingaged. And yes I’m using the choke when starting.

Well----Some more trouble shooting is required.---I doubt that it is running fine on muffs, it just sounds like it is fine to an untrained ear.-------One of these motors in good condition will fire right up.----Sorry.---- I can be of no further help.
