I am new to boats and needing help. I bought a boat that had been sitting a while. The guy I had bought it from had put many new parts on the engine and got it running. However, when you start the engine and warm it up and get the choke turned off it seems to idle fairly well. When you put the drive in forward and the RPM's come up it does ok at first and then as you bring the RPM's further up it starts popping or sputtering. It does have a new portable tank and the lines look new. The only thing I have noticed so far as that it seems the carburetor silencer should have a gasket on it and it doesn't.
Any other suggestion of things I should look for and test?
