1985 Force 50 HP a few basic qustions.

Hello everyone! I got this 85' 50 HP for free from my friends Dad.It hasn't been run for about 5 years.It appears very clean under the hood,doesn't appear to ever have been torn down.Compression test showed 120 and 118 lbs.I have no ignition wiring harness other than the battery cables.First I would like to see if the ignition circuit is working so can I "hotwire" it to check for spark? It seems pretty simple but I don't want to burn anything up.If I get spark from it then I will move onto carb cleaning and water pump replacement,which brings me to my next question. I've looked all over for a water pump impeller with no luck.I have however located an entire pump kit albeit it's pricey.Anyone know of a source for just the impeller?If not I'll just buy the kit.Thanks for your help.Charlie.

You should be able to find just an impeller here on Iboats for 20-27 bucks. I think there might be a gasket or two on yours, but I have always just cleaned and rtv'ed the surfaces making sure not to get too much inside the housing. What is the model#?

Wiring depends upon whether or not it has electronic ignition or battery and points ignition. Post a couple of photos showing both sides of the engine.
