1985 force outboard-shuts off under a load

i have a 1974 hydrosstream with a 1985 force motor. the motor runs perfect out of water and revs up. when i put the boat in the water and start . it wil idle but as soon as i throw it into gear it will shut off. any suggestions? i have good compression and spark in all cylinders . its fresh gas and new gas lines. this is stumping me

Sounds like the idle is too low.750-800 in gear warm.
On the side of the motor is a part called the towershaft.The idle is adjusted there.
Unfortunatly you need a tach.J
