After looking at a few newer boats that might save me some hull work, I decided that I am comfortable with my 1985 Horizon 195 cuddy and this is going to be the boat. I have to say that I am a 6'4" and I like the taller hull that the Four Winns has. As of this morning, the boat is costing me nothing, as I sold a few dirtbikes I bought from the same neighbor as the boat. The sale of the bikes covered the whole shebang. I even made 200 bucks. So I found this 1988 mercruiser 130 on craigslist in Rhode Island. While I didn't hear it run, its fairly clean, has compression, and definitely isn't cracked. I paid $300.00. It came with the outdrive that needs a bellows and a prop. It also came with the trim pump and the forward/ reverse control lever. This engine has power steering and mine does not.( I didn't get the steering cable from the other boat.) Is that something that I can adapt to mine easily or don't bother? If I want to start this engine on a stand, is there any wiring work around that will allow it to spark?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... To use the P/S, ya need the actuator off the inner transom plate from the other hull,.....

To start the motor, supply water, 'n gas, then hook a jumper wire to the coil's (+) terminal, 'n jumper the starter,....

I would live without the power steering. Just remove the pump and hoses.

Good deal on the motor and drive.

Running a 3L on a garden hose is a snap. Like Bondo said, hook up water, attach power to + side of coil and run a jumper to or from the starter solenoid. Well worth the effort. Nicest part is getting it all setup perfect where you can work on it without climbing into and out of the boat.

Since you got the entire outdrive with transome plate complete, no reason you can't hook up the power steering, all the parts are there. The steering cable is probably the same even.

Sounds great on the power steering. I will have to see what the cable in the boat looks like. Can anyone tell me how to get the outdrive off if I didn't put the selector in forward before removing it? I don't want to break anything! Thanks!

All you need do is manually stick the lower shift cable into forward, which lines up the shift shoe, fore and aft, so it can slide off.
