Hey guys! I just recently purchased a 1985 four winns boat for dirt cheap and id like to do a few things to it to make it a better boat. I intend to make this a duck hunting boat at the end but for now I need to focus on a few other things. First of all the floor needs to be replaced. I have never replaced the flooring in a boat and am not sure how difficult it will be? another thing I would like to find out is what kind of seats and mounts work best in this boat? The boat in not very deep so the steering wheel is pretty close to the floor? If you have any suggestions feel free to tell me I am open to any! Thanks!

Welcome to iBoats!

29 year old boat with deck needing to be replaced. Sorry to say, she's prolly gunna need a LOT more than that before she's "Lake Ready". Boats ROT from the bottom up so if the deck is soft then the stringers are most likely gone and the transom is more than likely gone too. Your "Dirt Cheap" boat could end up costing you around $2,000 to $3,000, especially since she doesn't seem to have a motor.

Wow another huge repair......must be the season. :)

All the repair supplies you need will be here for coating the decking and more Boat Paint, Repair & Maintenance - Boat Carpet, Fiberglass Repair, Antifouling

Seats???? Hmmmmmm any seats with a box base are easy and strong however..... since you are going to duck hunt with this boat you might want pedestal seats with removable pedestals so you have room to remove them to walk around Seat stuff here Boat Seats and Pontoon Furniture for Your Boat from iboats.com

Do you have a motor???

Yes it came with a 1974 115hp johnson that runs flawlessly. Today I gutted the entire boat taking out gas tank, all wiring and pumps. I pulled up the carpet and it just appears to have a few soft spots in it. I looked at the transom and it looks like someone has done some work to it. It has some steel bracing around it. As far as using it as a duck boat Im not going to fancy it up.

The steel bracing is a very good indicator that the transom is shot and needs to be replaced. Especially if you intend to hand that 115 hp back on her.
