I have a 1985 75 horse Merc. 4 cyl outboard Serial # 6504395. I have lost reverse and spark.<br /><br />Reverse first:<br /> With the boat on the trailer and shifted in to forward the prop turns kind of racthest to the right and lockes up turning to the left. This must be normal because I have forward. When in reverse the prop locks up in both directions. When the boat is in the water and i put it in reverse it acts like I am in netural the motor reves up but will not go into gear.<br /><br />Spark:<br /> While fishing a week or so ago I had to change to the other gas tank. The motor was running good all day. After changing tanks it didn't want to start. It finally hit and we finished fishing adn tried to tart it again. It finally hit and we beat it to the dock. It hasn't started since. I put a screw driver inside one of the plug wire and grounded it to a plug while my grandson turned it over. their was no spark.<br /><br />What do I do?
