Thought I would post this problem and solution that I had with my Mariner 50hp.
The engine ran great until I used two tanks of E10 Ethanol blended gasoline. After that the motor would start but stall right away. I could keep it running by giving it a bit of throttle so it would stay at a fast idle.
I took off the air intake and sprayed carb cleaner into the bottom carb. Engine bogged down and stalled as expected.
Restarted the motor and sprayed carb cleaner into the top carb. The engine revved way up. Bingo. I took of the float bowl of the top carb and it was empty.
I removed that carb and thoroughly cleaned out all jets and hoses. I found some bits of rubbery gunk in there that I believe came loose with the ethanol gas.
After re-assembly the engine fired right up and ran great just as it had before.
Hope that helps someone out with a similar problem.
