I am troubleshooting an ignition problem on a 1985 Mercury 75 HP. Engine has no spark at all. Good compression on all 4 cylinders, no fuel issues. Engine was running, then died and has had no spark since. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Simplest would be the kill switch was activated, or shorted, or the keyed switch is shot.
Check the wires on the back of the ignition switch and the kill switch.

You might repost this in the Mercury forum.

Disconnect the black/yellow wire at the switchbox. This wire kills spark.

Also, inspect the other wiring for loss of insulation. conductor breaks etc.
