Hi all, I'm new to the site and looking for some measurements of a classic sea ray. My wife and I just inherited a 1985 sea ray 300 with a sedan bridge and need to have it shipped cross-country. Can anyone tell me (or help me find) the height of the boat to the top of the sedan bridge? We need to get shipping quotes but can't find that measurement in any of the paperwork and the boat itself is out East (we live on the West coast).

Thanks for any help!

Your best bet would to ask the marina [ or wherever it is ] to get the height from the ground to the top of the last unremovable part. Then ask for the height from the ground to the bottom of the rudder. You are going to be close to the max height with a bridge ,even if it is lower profile version. Next which is not part of your question ,but my observation , is to get a survey done to make sure the engines are not toasted or the hull integrity isn't compromised. You can browse www.yachtsurvey.com under boat reviews to see some of the faults that Sea Ray in general have. Your model is not listed but they are constructed about the same over 24'.How long has it been sitting ? Your " free " may cost you , 6,000 for transporting , 20,000 for two new engines removed and installed , tranny's or outdrives may or not be good, another 6 -10,000 . Stringers may be shot , add another 7,000 . and updating electronics 2,000. I can go on but I think you get the idea. IF you know everything is working and the hull is solid I imagine a low boy or hydraulic style trailer will work . Boat MFG's try to make them trailerable to move them from there factories . The Fishing boats are a whole different story.

if you inherited it from a family member, the value of the boat is priceless, regardless what it cost to refurbish it. If you don't have the financial means to tackle it, or don't want a boat in general, then auction it off. For me it would be a no-brainer.

I have old catalogs and none of the manufacturers were good at providing dimensions unless it was a trailerable boat intended to be put in a garage.

As previously said, the local marina should be able to get the dimensions, though you may have to pay them to do the work.
