I?ve heard of laminate fiberglass on urethane or polystyrene foam insulation board instead of plywood. I read about it in popular mechanics once when they were making body panels for vans and motorcycles etc because it was easy to form to different shapes and curves without making molds on diy projects. I was thinking this might lend itself well for livewells, rod storage lockers and such when refurbishing boats. Has anyone had any experience with this method? I don?t imagine it would have the structural strength for some applications but I was thinking it would work well for a console for example because it is easily shaped and worked. Thoughts, comments, advice?

Thanks, Dan.,..

The only example I can think of at the moment is the roof built by Mark42....

The SF 160 is basically the same as the Supersport. There are very few hard to make panels out of any materials and I have found plywood is the best bang for the buck. Many of the console pieces are actually thin aluminum.

Here is a link to my Starcraft http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=329927 and there are HUNDREDS of starcraft projects here in restoration
