The motor sat for 2 seasons winterized with a 1/4 tank of gas. Just added 3/4 more, changed filter seperator, plugs and added carb cleaner. Ran strong for a half hour at full throtle then began to bog down. Could only get half speed at full throtle and stalls at idle. If I shut it down for 1 min. it will run strong for a short time and then bog down again. Does it just need to be run for a while or what. Thanks, Bruce

Sounds like your carbs are dirty. I'd start there by a complete break down and good cleaning. Unhook your fuel line and squirt a little into a glass jar and see what the gas looks and smells like and as always when you occur a problem check your compression although i doubt that's your problem.

I agree,if the motor has been sitting for any length of time with gas in it carb's have to be cleaned.I learned that lesson myself! If you ever have taken one apart, you will understand why!Coach.:

Sorry I couldnt get back, my comp. was down. I think you guys are right about the carbs, gonna haul boat today and bring to mech. Any idea what a carb cleaning would cost? They were rebuilt in '05 but then sat winterized for a couple seasons.

Labor involved is about 3 hours at most plus the carb kits. I wouldn't think it'd be much more than 250 - 300 bucks.

3-carb kit's $25.00 each,$55-$75 Hr.labor.Misc.$50.00.That's about right!If you have time,get a manual and do it yourself.Drain your tank,get a good fuel-water seperator filter,order carb kit$20.00 ea.And make sure to keep records or pictures of links and lever's.
