1985 volvo penta 270 on ciera sunbridge

im presently running a 15x17 prop, im getting 3900 rmps when the manual calls for 4000- 4400 any ideas on how to get more rpms and increase the speed.

i HAVE A 1985 28/50! I could NOT get over 3800 rpm. I changed the points distributor to electronic, and mad sure I had the Manufactures stock prop!! With just me in it, this baby flies (well) it went as fast as it could go!! but with only one engine, the more people in it, the SLOWER you go! I'm not looking for speed, but before a kayak was quicker. Big Difference!! HUGE!!!
