Just purchased a 1985 23 ft. wellcraft 230 aft-cabin. It has been in boat-motel storage since 2000. Engine was rebuilt in 1999 and has110 hours on rebuilt engine.
I have no manuals or papers on boat except the engine rebuild bill and work sheets.
I am trying to get Identification model information on the boat, engine and out-drive.
Can anyone help me on these questions? Wellcraft could not or would not help me.
What is weight of complete Boat
What is correct HP of this 1985 350cid.Mercuriser engine.
What is the model of out-drive? All number are missing.
Out drive looks small to me for this size engine, but what do I know.
What is the gear ratio of out-drive?
What should be the approximate maximum speed of this boat?
Prop seems mighty small for this size boat.

That model is just called the 230 Aft Cabin. Best way to get additional info is to find an original sales brochure. I've had success on ebay.
If it has the original power, then you've got a Mercruiser 260 HP with an MR (pre-Alpha) outdrive, 1.5 ratio. The 270's were called 350 Magnums and were not available until 1986 or 87. Back in the day I had an '85 Wellcraft 23 Nova XL- they were good solid boats if kept dry inside.

BTW- it appears there's some parts for your boat on ebay now if you're interested........
