Prepped motor for winter (fogging, flushing, fuel conditioner). Boat sat in my yard 6 mos (Aug - Feb). Started it up this morning. It started easily. Ran the eng about 3 min and noticed there was no stream of water comming out of the weep hole. Shut it down, cleaned hose from eng to weep hole (it wasn't clogged), turned up the water pressure a little, and restarted. Still no water out of weep hole. I've had this boat/engine 2 years. After first winter eng wouldn't start, didn't winterize it. $400.00 to have carbs (3) cleaned.OUCH! What did I do wrong this time, and how do I fix it?

I would definitely change the water pump impellar. Three minutes with no tell tale stream is too long, that thermostat should have opened up before then. I've had problems before running on the muffs. Try running it with the lower unit in a tub of water.

I see you have a tag that you are in NJ.
It has been below freezing here for a while perhaps some water is frozen in one area or the weep hole hose - there is often a short loop which freezes without causing damage.
Hope this helps

If it was still cold enough to have water frozen in the water pump when you fired it up,
there is the chance the rubber impeller was damaged

Just for your information, the thermostat opening has nothing to do with water coming out of tell tail, water should come out of it all the time if water pump is pumping water

If the engine has a thermostat, pull it and start up again. If you get water the you have a blockage after the stat. If no water, check intake screens. If no problem there ,Then I'm afraid it is time to drop LU and check impeller and water tube.

Thank you all for responding to my post. I will wait for the weather to stay above 40 for a few days and try it again. I will let you know how it goes. should I expect something to go wrong every season(???) If so I'm going to ditch the Yami and buy each of my fishing friends an oar.
