I have a mercury 115 that has blew a hole in the intake manifold beside the middle carb, now im no expert but this doesn't sond like a broken rod being inside the head and not the block, does anyone have an idea of what couldhave done this?
I would like to try and rebuild this motor but need to start with the culprit.
Thanks

It threw a rod...start looking for a block.

Any Mariner/Mercury from 1980 and up will work, you will just have to do a mod on the fuel pump on the older block as they dont bolt to block.

The hole could have been caused by the exit of the connecting rod cap and bearings. The block is still toast.
