Re: 1986 125 hp.Force #2 cylinder not firing.....
gekobvc
I also have a '86 125 HP Force. What you're describing is nothing new to me. Only difference is that I've had #4 cylinder not firing at least two times in the past. One time, it turned out to be the coil, another time it was the CD pack that went bad. Force Outboard Repair manual states that both #1 and #2 or #3 and #4 cylinders not be firing in order for the one or other CD pack to be bad. Not true. CD pack has gone bad on my engine with #3 cylinder with good spark and #4 cylinder with no spark. You may have a bad trigger point, but I doubt it. In the sixteen years I've owned my engine (bought it new), the trigger points have never gone bad. I've replaced CD packs many times.
Would you know if the #2 spark plug boot ever came loose from the spark plug? If so, for a small cost, you may want to invest in a new set of spark plug boot kits at a Force parts dealer. After time, plug boots become stretched and don't stay connected to the spark plug firmly. Due to vibration and impact, it is good to check the connections regularly. If you need a CD pack, you can order online at
www.seilermarine.com They will give a two year warranty and the price is less costly than a dealer.
