I have Frankenstein 1986 Johnson 225 VRO 2.7L 90 degree looper powerhead living in a 1997 Evinrude Vindicator body with a 7 3/8 jet drive on a 20' 2016 Custom Weld Shallow river boat.
Its about due for a rebuild so given that I would like to go to the much larger 7 7/8 jet pump to deal with heavier loads but Outboard Jets says I would need to go with a 3.0L big bore powerhead.
So the question I have is can I get a 1988-1991 model remanufactured powerhead and use the carbs and linkage and everything else from my 1986?
