I just bought a 1986 bass tracker with an 35 HP mercury engine. Was told the battery was bad and the starter wires just need to be hooked up. Put on a freshly charged battery, reattached the starter wires, and BOOM nothing happens. Not a click of the choke, wont turn over. I jumped the starter and it does turn over. So I replaced the starter solenoid and nothing changed. I'm not sure where to go next, I'm thinking a faulty ignition switch or kill switch, how do I go about testing those? How do I go about/what fusible links should I test?;am I better off just spending the 200 dollars and rewiring the whole damn thing? Does anyone have a wiring diagram, I have seen they did not release the diagrams during these years. Any input and guidance is appreciated.
