1986 50hp force will only idle!

My 50 hp force starts and idles perfectly<br />but as soon as I try to accelerate, it dies. the only way to make it run fast is to close the choke. I cleane the fuel pump and carb but to no avail. what do i try next?

You have a restriction in the carb or improper float level. Clean Carb again and check the float level. It should be parallel with the carb body when turned upside down. Did you use a rebuild kit on the carb? If not, do so this next time.
