It nearly takes two hands on the controller to shift. I disconnected the controller from the motor and it works smooth. The shift cable attaches to a black plastic piece which slides on a "channel". This piece slides free as well when disconnected. The rod which connects from the black plastic piece to the shift shaft is where the binding starts. I have tried continuously to squirt all of the points of possible friction with penetrating lubricant and work the linkage back and forth, but no luck as of yet. it still is very tight. The top of the shift shaft itself is wedged very tightly against the bottom of the motor and cannot be pryed down. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
