1986-89 25 mercury serial # ?

I just bought a 25 mercury tiller outboard that has been sitting on a boat in a slip for years.
The guy I bought it from wasn't the original owner,and he didn't know what year it was.I've tried to read the serial # on the sticker (starboard side clamp assembly),but it's so faded from the sun it's impossible to read.
Long story short,my question is-is there another place I can find a serial # on this motor?
The decals reflect a '86-'89. Thanks for any help...

You should be able to find a freeze plug like this:

on the lower RH side of the engine block.
