Just bought this 4 cyl sterndrive on an 86 16' Blue Water. Owner said it ran cold blooded and had to run 10 min. before using. Took it out yesterday and it powered up fine. Increased power and it ran for about two minutes and then lost power, sputtered and died. Tried to restart but it would sputter then die. Now it won't start at all. He had put Sta-Bil in the gas for winter storage. Is it a carb or fuel pump or bad gas situation?
Thank you.

It Could be Any of the things you mention,......
Or,....
It Could be that it's lost it's Spark..........

You have to do alittle Checking for Us to Help you,......

Is it getting Gas to the Carb,..??
To See,.... Pull the sparkarrester off the carb,+ Look down thru it as the throttle is Pumped......

Is it getting Spark to the Sparkplugs,..??
Pull a plug or 2,+ Check them........

Sounds a lot like a bad fuel pump to me, but it could be sunk float too. Shoot some carb cleaner down the throat and see if it'll start. At least you'll know if it's fuel or spark.
