I just purchased a 1986 Bayliner Capri Cuddy Cab and I'm trying to figure out what model it is. The Hull ID is BIJC44CAC686. I Narrowed it down that BIJ means its a Bayliner built in NC. The C44CA is what I'm trying to figure out. The C6 means it was made in March and the 86 means 1986. To narrow it down a little more, I'm not really sure what the C44 is but I'm pretty sure that the CA is the model, so I searched that on google and it came back with models of different years ranging from 17 foot to 23 foot. I guess the big question is the boat seems to be 20' but I can't find anything saying that Bayliner made a 20' boat in 1986. Can anybody help tell me what the C44CA means?

Re: 1986 Bayliner Capri Hull ID

Welcome to iboats!

HINs aren't like automotive VINs. The characters between the manufacturer identification and model year don't necessarily mean anything specific other than to give each hull a unique HIN. Time to break out the tape measure and get hull length. With that info you can figure out the model. The outboard models end in "00" and the I/O models in "50". The first two digits are hull length to the nearest foot. The models for 1986 Capri were 1600, 1900, 1950, and 2150. So the full name would be something like Bayliner 2150 Capri Cuddy.
