My 1986 Bayliner Capri won't start :( It has Volvo penta motor. It was working fine last week also the battery is pretty new and it has power but when I start it no click at all. Also the Ignition Coil is really hot, will that be the problem? Thanks!

no click when you turn the key? Make sure the throttle control handle it straight up in nuetral. Coil overheating is not good, it may have gotten heated up from you trying to start it. Do you have Points style ignition or electronic?

Look at this troubleshooting file. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=167035
It should help you find the problem. Your coil will get hot if the ignition switch is on and the points are closed.
What Volvo engine do you have, there are hundreds of different ones. Usually a model or serial number is the best way to go. Doesn't matter what kind of boat they are in, Bayliner nor the other manufacturers make engines.

Re: 1986 Bayliner Capri Won't Start! HELP!

I am no expert but I have a similar boat that had similar issues. (Only if it does not turn over at all) There are 2 yellow wires that go to a small micro switch on the back side of the throttle controls behind the side panel. This switch protects it from starting in gear. Unplug the two yellow wires from the switch and use a jumper wire to connect these two wires. (this will bypass the safety switch that might be your issue) (for points style ignition consider) If this is your issue, depending the position your motor is in, the points could be closed causing the coil to get warm if your key is left on for any period of time. The safety switch is cheep to replace. If this does turn out to be your issue I would replace the points anyway, they are cheep and might have burnt spots.
