Looking for advice/opinions. Going to look at this boat in a couple of days. 21 foot hardtop with rebuilt 350 and volvo 290 single prop outdrive. Any items that I should pay particularly close attention to when inspecting it before purchase? I'm fairly new to this size and type of boat, but I seem to remember reading here that the Trophy line was a pretty well-built boat.

1986... she is not a spring chic, kept well?

Trophy liner's are strong boats however 18 years on the water, seems to me you are looking for a good 'project' there.

I would not go for it. Unless the price is "REALLY" right.

Have only see pictures of it so far. Looks to be in decent shape. I was more concerned about what is under the flooring (stringer material and gas tank).Do they hold up well? One of my fishing buddies has the same engine and outdrive on his 21' Monaro and is very happy with it. His outdrive is the duo-prop volvo and this Trophy has the single prop. Big difference??

Dual Prop will give you a little more pick up and speed. Personally I dont think it is a BIG deal. If the fuel tank is metal I would really check all over it.

A lot of boaters will say "older the better".. Back in the old days they used thicker fiberglass material and if kept well, you should have a bullet proof boat. Floor may need replacement after 18 years of service, can't tell whats under it without inspecting...
Boats are all about maintenance.

That is the ONLY Bayliner that I would consider owning.Except for the 55 footer they make .It would be better with an outboard but the hull if properly maintained is a good one.Charlie

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll check it out tomorrow. Has an aluminum fuel tank, but I dont know about the stringer material. Guess I'll look carefully for soft spots. Thanks again.
