Hi all, just sold my 14' Sea Nymph with 1996 Evinrude 25 hp---i am in the market for something quite a bit bigger where older isnt an issue. Found a nice 1986 cc Bayliner Trophy with a Chrysler 125 Force (running well). Any takes on this particular engine or any common probs?

Force is a good dependable unit.As long as you take care of it.
Do a compression/spark test before you buy.
Check lower unit oil.and then pressure test it.J

I agree - they are simple, basic engines that if and when they go wrong are easy to diagnose and relatively cheap to repair.

On a trophy they will be working hard (they are frequently found on the much smaller, lighter Capris) but will still give good service. Newer motors from other manufacturers are more economical, quieter and smoother - but cost way more and are harder to fix.

Their weakness seems to be their electrical (ignition) system especially the stator/trigger but spares are available and you can often find good working used spares for a fraction of the cost of new.
