I have a DT 140 that i just replaced the water pump on because the warning beeper was going off and was peeing weak. I started the engine and it was peeing about a 3 foot straight stream with plenty of pressure but the warning beeper is still going off. I am thinking faulty warning beeper.....any suggestions?

Does the beeper go off immediately even with a cold engine?

I'm kinda guessing here too, just had similar issues with a DT85. Maybe a bad temp sensor? How about the oil switch? Kinda doubt it's the 'beeper' itself, but more likely whatever's driving it (unless maybe shorted wiring).

Yes the beeper goes off as soon as u hit the key to start the engine. I ran the boat this weekend and since I replaced the water pump it has developed a bad miss. Could this be a rev limiter kicking in because the water light and beeper are still activated?

Re: 1986 dt140

i had the same problem my 1991 dt 140. i finaly just un pluged water flow sensor and installed water pressure guage. i found that there was usualy a problem were the water pump housing mates up with the water tube to the power head. i even replaced it with a new suzuki gromet and whent bad very quick. i have been using a stack of o-rings on the pipe and it has been going good for a year long.
