Some help before I start this engine I bought and blow it up. On the control box is a lever that lifts up, a choke on ignition key switch that is pushed in with the key and a knob below the ignition key. What is the lift up lever for if the choke is on the ignition key switch? What is the knob for? Is there anything I should spray into the cylinders or do to the carbs before I start the engine?
Thanks Wish I had an owners manual!

The lift up lever is a fast idle control.
Choke is just that ... fuel enrichment.
Knob is probably just a cover for the socket where you can connect a tach,as well as obtain battery positive and negetive for light duty use.(under 5 AMP ?)

DHP

Knob could be the friction adjustment for the control lever.

Good point! I forgot they were there. If it's a knob it's throttle friction. If it's round and rubber probably the cover I had in mind.

DHP

Thanks, but what would be the starting procedure. Do I lift the lever and push in the choke or Vice a Versa?

First make sure the fuel primer bulb has been pumped

Then pull the fast idle lever all the way up. " I personally only pull it about 3/4 of the way up."

Then push the key in for the choke and crank it over.

It should fire up fairly quickly.

After about 10 seconds I usually push the warm up lever down to about half way.

In thirty seconds, Im down to normal idle and on my way.
