Ok, here goes the saga. My 86 force 50hp powerhead had major issues (wrist pin fell out, major scoring, STILL ran), had low power obviously. I got a 1985 force 50 powerhead and swapped all of my components over. Good news is it fires right up. I "THINK" I have the timing set correctly. I found TDC on the flywheel and made a mark which lines up with the timing sticker. Counted back 30 degrees and the flywheel already has a dented in spot to mark 30 degrees back from my TDC mark. Grounded the plug leads, had a buddy put it WOT and crank it over for me. I got it dialed in with the 30 degree mark lining up with the solid black line on the block decal. It seems to run ok however, if I have it running in the bucket, and I open the throttle halfway and then close it, she bucks and is really hesitant to return to idle, sometimes I have to shut the key off for a second then back on and it will settle down. I know two strokes hate air leaks or lean conditions, I wonder if I am dealing with a timing issue OR I wonder if the carb. is just too lean? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
