1) Looking for a prop to get the boat on plane faster. Seems to take a while to accelerate onto plane with 6 adults on board.

2) Currently running a 3 blade, aluminum, Quicksilver prop.

3) Current prop is 14.5x19P.

4) Wide open throttle RPM is 4000 at 33 mph (GPS).

5) Engine is a 1986 Mercruiser 3.8L 170 HP.

6) Boat is a 1986 Four Winns 195 Horizon Cuddy. LOA:19 feet, Dry weight: 3900 lbs.

Thank you for information in advance!

Easy answer= 4 blade prop.. Ive got a 19.5 cuddy.. 1987... came with 3 blade prop,, was like pulling a fridge our of water and trying to get it on plane.. put a Solas 4 blade 15p on it... jumped out of water on plane in less than 5 seconds... HUGE difference. you've got more HP than I... your WOT should be 4400-4800,, try a 4 blade and drop own in pitch a little... 4 blade = more hole shot, more thrust

Thanks for the reply ImperialVC200! Should I keep the same diameter (14.5) and drop down to a 15p 4 blade prop?

that depends, assuming your engine health is good and your tac reading is accurate.. ie- WOT 4000. that would suggest you have to much pitch, (19). for the weight and size of your boat...3900lb dry weight is pretty heavy,, . that said.. I'd suggest you look at a 17p 4 blade prop,

Solas makes a good 4 blade 17p for about $130.. the dia of that prop is 14.25 i think.. would do well

Im certain that would solve both problems.... you will jump out of the hole quick and you will reach about 4500 rpms. probably go faster than 33 also... report back if u do it,, enjoy!
