1986 Johnson 175 HP

My VRO pump is leaking when I pump the fuel bulb. I plugged off the oil side and am premixing my fuel. Can I get some suggestions, should I rebuild or replace with a fuel only pump? If I go with a fuel only pump does anyone have any suggestions on a good pump? There are so many on the market.

The earlier ( 1983 ) motors came with 2 fuel pumps in series.-----Myself I would dig into the parts boxes and install 2 pumps from say a 1966 model 100 HP Johnson.------A wonderfully simple pump operated by PRESSURE pulses from the crankcase.-----They have a filter and a glass sediment bowl too.

That sounds good to me. Would I need to split the pulse line from the block?

I just bought one of the double pump setups to replace my VRO setup.

You might find 2 locations on the block for the pulse ports now.----Have a good look.

I’m leaning toward the double pump from Maxrules. Should I install a pulse limiter if I go this route? There isn’t one on my current setup.

The pulse limiter is a ---FLOW FUSE ----For the VRO pump.-----It is not needed with other pumps !
