My last trip out while running 3,800 RPM I noticed a noise that is hard to explain. It not a knock but more of a zzzz sound and not very loud. When I slowed to pull into the harbor I noticed a slight miss when I went to speed up a little. I got home and fired it up and had a weak battery and I had weak spark on a few cylinders and one wasn’t firing at all. I checked and it wasn’t charging. I also noticed the stator had overheated and leaking black stuff. I replaced the Regulator and Stator. It is now charging and I have good spark on all cylinders but still have a miss actually worse than before. I have 90lbs of compression on all cylinders carbs were cleaned and ran a temp tank of gas to it with no change. I’m thinking timer base but that doesn’t explain the noise. When it starts cold it seems to run perfect but within a minute it starts missing badly. Squeezing the primer bulb does nothing to help. My concern is the noise. I thought maybe a reed valve but it seems to be affecting more than one cylinder. When I pull the plugs they are dripping with oil. I disconnected the VRO to run off of premix while trying to diagnose. Any thought on the next thing to check?

Update. I put a timing light on it and have intermittent spark loss on several cylinders. I would think a bad coil pack but it is on both sides of the motor so I’m back to thinking it’s the trigger. Thoughts?
