Today I was working on my Johnson outboard. I accidentally connected the cables to the batter the wrong way round. There was a small crackling noise coming from the engine followed by smoke. Once I removed the cowling the smoke was gone and I have no idea where it came from.
I then proceed to check everything and all seemed fine. The starter motor worked as soon as I turned the key and the engine would run.
I am just wondering whether something did actually break or whether it was just a scare.
