Update..II 11/21/11

Finally, after plastic wedges and slide hammer, the lower unit did drop out.
The splines were clean and in good shape, not so the upper drive shaft pin that pre loads the bearing that is below the water pump. Rusted to the point of being badly pitted. Now the next issue, I have soaked this pin in WD 40 since yesterday and it will not budge, can I cut it and drill it out, if so where can I get a replacement pin and the spring. Would you reccomend heat.....

thanks Stormmn

Yesterday was a total loss, my Or. Ducks got their butt's kicked by USC, and after two hours of wedges, slide hammer and cursing, the lower end is still on the motor.
Spent the afternoon with wedges and a slide hammer (drilled a 1/2 hole through the skag and attached a 5lb. slide hammer, hit so dam hard that I pealed open on of the screw links locking the slide hammer to the clevis) to no avail, yes, all four of the bolts that connect the lower unit to the upper unit are removed and the lower unit will drop about a 1/4 of an inch.
Ok, whats the next move???
Has anyone ever drilled a 1" hole in the top of the center unit and heated the shaft with a roebud???

thanks for any suggestions
I'm ready for the red sticks made by Dupont!
