1986 Mercruiser 3.0 140 Serpentine V-Belt

Belt broke last weekend, 19" V-belt. Can it be replaced with an automotive belt of similar build? I can purchase 2 for the price of 1 :marine" belt it looks like....After all, isn't it an old auto or industrial engine?

Yes can use Auto, no issues.
Belt doesn't know if its on a boat or car :D

no, the 3.0 never came on anything except a generator, trash pump or a boat.

you also have to pull the front motor mount to install the belt, then re-align the motor after. which is why its recommended to install 2 belts, zip tying one out of the way. generally best done during the annual drive service when you check the alignment anyway.

should also expand, you can get gates belts anywhere that will fit.

Great idea on the two belts. I just aligned the motor too... Bummer
