Currently working out the issue with my Mercruiser trim. I can still use the trailer dash trim to raise the motor for now until I get the handle switch working again. In the meantime, if I am at the lake like last weekend and pull the boat out of the water and cant get the tilt to go up, is there an emergency release somewhere or somehow that I can release it and tie it up to get the boat home without having my prop and lower unit 3 inches from the ground? I looked online but cannot find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no manual release like most outboards have. Your best bet would be to take the rear pivot pin out that connects the trim rams to the drive unit. That way you'll be able to tie the drive up and the trim rams to move the boat around.

I have been using the trailer function for now - but my worry is that it will go out before I can fix it completely. I want to make sure of what I can do if I am at the lake to raise it back to get the boat home if it ever came to that.

make up a jumper to go from the + battery to the solenoids. There you will fine a blue motor wire(up) and a green motor wire(down) Touch one or the other to go up or down. Your problem is in the trim limit switch or its wiring, trailer is wired direct to the pump

Right, on the solenoid with the BLUE wire, jumper from the heavy RED wire to the terminal with the SMALL blue/white wire, that will activate the solenoid and raise the outdrive. Jumpering to the small terminal only draws a small current that activates the solinoid, if you jumper directly to the heavier motor wire it will draw a much higher current that could cause the jumper to become very hot and cause a burn.
