1986 Mercury 150 XR2 Charging Unit

Everything is working fine on this old motor but I was wondering if there is a kit that will allow one to update the charging system to a larger amp capacity unit? <br />Also is it common for the Engine to discharge a large plume of smoke when it is first started? Once it has been running everything is what I would call normal (little if any noticable smoke discharge). I do run all the gas out of the carbs each time I pull the boat out. Just an old habit that I have done for years.<br />Thanks... Huddleston Bass

I dont what system this engine has. Most 150s on bass boats of that age had 35 amp system, and the later ones had 40 amp. No kit that I know of. <br />Kit would have to have new flywheel $$$$.
