I picked up a used boat with a motor that doesnt run, classic tale. The motor is very clean, compression in range, and is getting a strong spark. I am getting fuel to the carb, it fills the bowl and the float engages the stop. I can get the engine to fire up with starting fluid, but that it the extent of that. I have never smelled fuel on the plugs, even after excessive priming. I have cleaned, soaked, and blown out the carberator. The previous owner had used stabil, and the carb was very clean before going through it. I'm at the point that I'm running out of solutions, other than giving the dealer some business. Anybody have an idea? Any input is appreciated.

main fuel jet sounds plugged. I'd take apart the carb and give it a thorough cleaning.

For good measure I removed the carb again. I'm getting good at it now its the 4th time this weekend. I removed all the screws and hit them with cleaner and compressed air through all the channels. Used an led light through the bottom hole for servicing the main and pilot jet and light shines clear through them both.

The guy I bought the boat from had been replacing the fuel lines. I found multiple sectins of hoses, and a couple different primer bulbs. is there a set pressure of incoming fuel required to push the fuel through. The side bowl fills up, and the float does engage the needle valve to stop the incoming fuel. There is a large channel that feeds directly under the main jet.

Hey I have found a solution. I clipped the hose on either end of my primer bulb and reclamped them down. Before my primer bulb had some give, now its rock hard. I can actually see the fuel rise to the top of the main jet. Now for some new plugs and water.
