So this is gonna be a longer process so I figured I would start the thread now with the basics.
bought this bought for $500 with a dual axle trailer from a friend.
Basically has a shot outboard. But motor did run good. (Verified by shop)
while starting it after we got it. The starting solenoid must have fused itself internally and basically kept trying to start. Even with the key off. Ended up yanking the positive cable off to kill it. Guy felt bad and gave me back $100. So.
Bought this boat for $400 with trailer lol.
Very wide boat with a 9 person capacity so I feel really good about this size for us. Me and my wife and a friend who’s done a bunch of restoration in the past are gonna be tackling this to hopefully finish everything by start of season next year.
The deets.
Merc 190 motor with Alpha one Gen 1 outdrive
needs new outdrive and gimbal ring.
Transom has some significant stress cracks so assuming it’s rotten and needs replaced.
Floors have some weak spots so going to redo those as well.
full interior redo changing the layout to a deck over the motor with a L bench from the co captain seat to behind the captain.
Im an installer at a custom 12v shop so sound and electrical upgrades will be due. Not sure if there’s a way to convert some of these old boats to like a garmin or simrad display unit. But will be looking into that.
planing on basically framing all the bench’s/storage etc. then having our neighbor at work upholster it (they are an upholstery shop). Pics of their recent work in pics.
Probably going to keep the motor but maybe do some of the upgrades while it’s out (convert to alternator, cam seals etc).
So here’s the boat. First things will be pulling the motor and getting the thing stripped.
Enjoy!
